Colo Colo

The Leader

written by Gabriel Komisar

All that is known of this Monster is that half a decade ago the rats of Tinaris-Mal were like any other population of rats in a large urban center. But ever since the arrival of the being calling itself Colo Colo, the rats have joined together as a unified front, moving seemingly as one. All we know of the Monster is through the rats’ collective action and various manifestos, citing the enigmatic Monster as the reason for their union.

The Power

Some believe that Colo Colo operates like an insect queen, controlling the rats of the city through a hivemind; on closer inspection, this is not actually true. Far from being unified through magical means, Colo Colo’s only noticeable “power” as far as specialists can determine, is the power of any good politician. He’s charismatic, persuasive, and an effective labor organizer, convincing the rats to act collectively and move as one unit to accomplish a set of tasks decided beforehand by the collective. Far from being a Queen or operating on any kind of hierarchy, he appears to be a rat among rats. Ask which of them is Colo Colo and they will all raise their hands before stripping your larder clean in minutes.

People

If the various pamphlets routinely distributed by the rats of Tinaris-Mal are any indication, Colo Colo considers his people to be the very rats he scurries amongst. The bipedal citizenry of Tinaris-Mal are by all accounts his political opposition. The pamphlets address humans strictly as “the purveyors” referring to their ability to procure and provide meat and dairy products, the collection of which is central to Colo Colo’s platform. Whereas before the arrival of Colo Colo, the rats of Tinaris-Mal were seen as pests and nuisances, now that they are a political body that can exert military action, the human population has been forced to consider negotiations, which are an ongoing concern.

Notable History

Tinaris-Mal is notably the only major city in Ald-Amura without any kind of pest control, after a notable incident several years ago in the city’s populous Market Center.

Epic Destiny

Colo Colo’s ultimate aspirations are very clear in the aforementioned pamphlets, which his collective manages to churn out and distribute at an alarming rate due to their acquisition of a printing press decommissioned on the grounds of infestation. The group wants nothing short of increased food production, complete food dominion, and meats and cheeses for all. “All,” of course, being Colo Colo’s people, in their words the “true people” of Tinaris-Mal.

Wounds

  1. They form a wave. In moments it will crash down on you. It is too late to run.
  2. Harsh words are written in their latest pamphlet. Words that cannot be taken back or easily forgotten. This is a tipping point.
  3. Colo Colo has received 50 Million signatures on his petition to poop in the public reservoir. The people have spoken.
  4. The rats are aimless, terrified, and angry. They do whatever it takes to find Colo Colo. Whatever it takes.
  5. A building is about to drop. They’ve chewed the foundation.
  6. Embittered and defeated, the rats lose faith in the cause. More than any one rat, Colo Colo is an idea, and that idea needs protecting.
